Meet at: Hemel Hempstead Station Entrance (HP3 9BQ)
Join us for a beautiful and varied 17 km circular hike through the rolling hills and woodlands of the Chilterns!
Starting from Hemel Hempstead, we’ll walk north through peaceful farmland, pretty lanes and wooded trails to the historic village of Great Gaddesden — passing the tranquil Amaravati Buddhist Monastery. Our route continues through charming hamlets like Nettleden and Frithsden, close to the lovely Frithsden Vineyard and ancient woodland.
We’ll also pass traditional watercress beds and enjoy views across the Gade Valley before finishing with a peaceful stretch along the Grand Union Canal towpath.
Expect a mix of terrain: forest tracks, wide paths, rolling hills and some canal-side walking. There are a few steady climbs and descents, but nothing too steep or prolonged.
